We will always remember Juan Pablo Montoya as one of the fastest and feistiest racers in motorsports history. He gained popularity after he won the Indy500 and then entered the F1 circuit. He was straightaway on the pace and challenged the great Michael Schumacher for the 2003 championship.

Unfortunately, his time in F1 ended after a dismal 2006 season with the McLaren team. Now, he hopes that his son Sebastian can follow in his footsteps and also race in the sport one day alongside the likes of Max Verstappen.

His racing skills are unbelievable: Juan Pablo Montoya

As reported by Motorsport, Montoya is currently mentoring his son in his racing career. His son, Sebastian, is currently racing in Formula 4, and Juan Pablo is closely associated with his son’s career.

“I try to be at as many races as possible. That’s not easy sometimes, because some races coincide with my own races and other things I do.”

While mentioning some similarities between him and his son, Montoya said, “He does a lot of things better than I do. And he’s much smarter than me, which isn’t that hard, by the way!

“But he’s a really good racer. He is very good at defending and overtaking. His racing skills are unbelievable. I am very proud.”

Montoya believes his son is like Max Verstappen

Montoya hopes that soon enough his son can get to F1 and race against the best drivers on the grid. He also believes Sebastian’s style of racing is much like that of Max Verstappen, one of the contenders for the F1 championship this year.

 “That would be cool! You never know. We will see! Max and Sebastian are a bit like each other. They are both real racers and want to overtake people. They don’t sit and wait. And they do whatever it takes to get the job done,” said Montoya.

Juan Pablo mentioned that he has been in contact with some teams regarding his son’s future in F1.
