Daniel Ricciardo engages himself in various activities when not racing on an F1 track. We saw him go dirt biking with his friend in Netflix’s Drive to Survive. Ahead of this year’s race in Brazil, he went out for some boxing lessons with UFC star Charles Oliveira. But which off-track sporting activity does he rate himself good at?

Daniel Ricciardo appeared for an interview with Will Schofield and Dan Const on their YouTube channel BackChat. They touched upon many topics during the interview ranging from his plans for next year to where he would play if he was in an AFL team. However, the most fun part of the interview, according to us, was when they talked about Daniel Ricciardo’s sporting achievements off the racing track.

Daniel revealed, “I was good at cross-country as a kid. Well, I say I was good, I came in 4th in like into school. So, I wasn’t a gun.” Ricciardo then summed up his off-track achievements as “Good at everything, great at nothing. Jack of all trades, yeah. I’m probably not doing myself justice.”
Schofield pushed the Honey Badger to think harder and that’s when he recalled he was good at table tennis. He said, “Table Tennis. I’m really good at table tennis.”
Ricciardo is hugely into combat sports. In a 2020 Instagram interview with Layla Ann Lee, he revealed how his love for the sport started and if he would ever consider building a career in it.

In the Instagram interview, Ricciardo revealed his love for UFC and mixed martial arts. He also revealed how he practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for six months.

“I did it for about probably six months and then I was like I’ll put it on hold till probably after my racing career,” the Australian said.
Speaking on how his love for combat sports developed, he told, “I’ve always loved I guess combat sports.”
“As a kid growing up, one of my best friends was like an amateur boxer, so I did a little bit of boxing just to like stay fit as a kid.”

Talking about taking it up as a sport, Daniel confessed it was the adrenaline of stare-downs and walkouts that fascinated him. However, the idea of being elbowed or kneed in the face didn’t. He admitted he had a fight in his heart, but he was not a fighter. We are just happy the Honey Badger will stay in the paddocks for now.
