Max Verstappen is currently leading the F1 driver’s world championship by 12 points against Lewis Hamilton. On Saturday, Verstappen was able to secure back-to-back pole positions for the first time in a season in his career. Max was hunting Hamilton at the beginning of the season, but he has turned the table by winning the last 2 out of 3 races.

In a recent interview with Formula1.com, Max mentioned that he is feeling confident this season. In a surprising comment, he mentioned that he has not fully reached his peak in F1.

‘You will see my best in my early 30s’: Max Verstappen

Speaking to Will Buxton for his interview, Max mentioned he is happy with the results and the performance of the car this season. When asked about being in the career-best form, Max gave a surprising response.” Hopefully you will see my best in my early 30s.

“I’m only 23. So, I naturally expect myself to only be better in the coming years. But also there is no rush to that I mean, it’s fine. You cannot force these things anyway.” said Max when asked if he is in his best.

Max concluded by saying,” I am happy with how everything is going so far, but I don’t think you suddenly gain speed or whatever. Through experience with the car and general understanding that you became better and better all the time.

Can Max win the Styrian Grand Prix?

Verstappen starts the Styrian Grand Prix in pole position with title rival Hamilton just behind him. If Max wins on Sunday, it would a fourth consecutive race win for Red Bull and fourth victory of the season for the Dutchman.

A win at the Red Bull Ring will help extend his championship lead to 19 points from Hamilton. A race win will go a long way as the next race is again at the same circuit.
