Jenson Button was the golden child of Formula 1. But he never really got success as easily as his talents deserved. It wasn’t until his 113th start in F1 that he clinched his maiden F1 victory at the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix. But since then, there was no stopping him. When he hung his racing helmet up, he was 15 wins, 50 podiums, and 1 F1 world championship rich. A solid legacy indeed. That being said, since his retirement at the end of the 2016 F1 season, the man who was dubbed as the ‘Playboy of F1’, has shifted his priorities to that of his family.

Button was very close to his late father. Hence, it should not come as a surprise that when he himself became a father, he was going to be as devoted to that role as he was as an F1 driver. Button’s son Hendrix Johnathon Button is one really lucky child indeed. In addition to having such a doting father, the 4-year-old also has unparalleled access to the world of motorsport due to the rich legacy his father has cemented in it. And off the news that the 43-year-old will be plying his trade at Le Mans this year in a NASCAR pedigree stock car. He took his son one inch closer to making him realize a dream.

Button was in attendance for this weekend’s Auto Club 400 race held at the Auto Club Speedway in California. With him was his son, who is a massive fan of a certain NASCAR driver! Button posted a series of photographs from the event with his son, Hendrix.

He captioned it, “Great day at @autoclubspeedway for @nascar. Little dude is a fan, especially #24 Raptor oh and of course the driver too @williambyron. Thanks @nascar for the invite.” And to make little Hendrix’s day, William Byron responded to the post! He commented, “So cool!! The best fan.”

This wholesome father-son moment wasn’t lost on the fans either. Even the likes of Christian Horner and Daniel Ricciardo couldn’t help but spare a heart for the duo by reacting to Button’s post.

Every time any successful F1 driver tries to get their sons and daughters close to motorsport, the expectations seem to rise. The case of Hendrix Button is no different. Seeing the enthusiasm from the young kid, and the pedigree his father has, fans were quick to peek into the future.

One fan commented, “I like see him in f1 car.” Whilst another said, “So cute, I wonder if he will follow you into F1.” But F1 isn’t the only sport deserving of young Button’s talents. “Future NASCAR driver,” replied one fan. Whereas the general sentiment was that Hendrix was up for great things. “A future champion in the making.”

Fans also wished Button Sr. luck for his Le Mans push. “So glad you’re part of the team for the LeMans effort. I can’t imagine how it’s going to sound going down the mulsanne.”
