Daniel Ricciardo Wouldn’t Be Too Happy With a New No. 3 on the Grid as Logan Sargeant Eyes “All Time American Hero” Dale Earnhardt’s Lucky Digit

Logan Sargeant is the latest American addition to the F1 grid. The 21-year-old driver shocked the F1 world as Williams announced him as their driver for the 2023 F1 season. Sargeant, who will debut in Formula 1 next year, has opened up on his favorite racing number, which fascinatingly matched with Daniel Ricciardo.
Sargeant once revealed his favorite racing number during an interview with Williams. The American driver also shared why that number is his favorite. This was a conversation he had during his F2 stint, where he couldn’t pick up a number due to FIA restrictions.

Talking about this, the upcoming Williams driver stated, “This year it’s six because I can’t choose in F2, but when I am allowed to pick, it would be No 3. Three for Dale Earnhardt, an all-out American hero.”
Interestingly, Daniel Ricciardo, the outgoing McLaren driver, also has the same racing number since he too is a big admirer of the NASCAR legend, Dale Earnhardt.
Since Ricciardo is already in the sport, Sargeant will not be able to use it due to the FIA restriction. However, in case he leaves, Ricciardo will have to give up on that, even if he’s unhappy about it.
Logan Sargeant reveals why he pursued F1
Logan Sargeant is from a country that is famous for basketball, baseball, and, of course, NASCAR. However, the United States has recently seen a sharp rise in the F1 fanbase recently. Thanks to Netflix’s Drive to Survive and social media, the rise of popularity has been upward and onwards thereafter.
What an honor it is to confirm that I will be joining @WilliamsRacing as part of their driver academy. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity and the faith they’ve put in me. A massive thank you to @Infinity_ISM for all of their help. I can’t wait to get started. pic.twitter.com/DvyCOfDb9G
