F1 hotshot Lewis Hamilton once attended the NASCAR season finale in Miami. The 2015 finale in the city of Florida impressed the Briton so much, he revealed his wish to race in stock car racing. Hamilton, who once swapped seats with Tony Stewart of NASCAR, dreamed of having a drive in NASCAR one day.

Talking about this, Hamilton conveyed in his column with BBC, “The race was 267 laps – really long – but I thoroughly enjoyed it, trying to understand the strategy and the differences between the cars. It was neat.”

It made me want to drive one – I really fancy a race in a NASCAR one day. I’m not sure I’d do an oval, but possibly a street circuit or road course,” further stated the seven-time world champion.

Jeff Gordon once invited Lewis Hamilton to NASCAR

NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon shares an amicable relationship with F1 titan Lewis Hamilton. The two have attended each other’s races in the past. On one occasion, Gordon personally invited the Mercedes star over to stock car racing.

Emphasizing Hamilton’s unique wish, which is to drive in NASCAR one day, the iconic NASCAR star opened up on it in 2018. During an NBC podcast, Gordon conveyed, “I think that would be amazing (if Hamilton ran in Daytona 500).”

He further added on NASCAR and F1 drivers’ union, “In the past, we’ve seen IndyCar drivers come over to NASCAR. We all saw what happened when Fernando Alonso came to (the Indianapolis 500 in 2017) or the 24 (Rolex 24 in 2018), how great that is.”

As things stand, both 2015 and 2018 are long gone and Lewis Hamilton is still going strong in F1. With no intentions to hang up his F1 overalls any time soon, Lewis Hamilton’s time in NASCAR might just be delayed, who knows?
