Nico Hulkenberg Turns to ‘Plan B’ After Red Bull F1 Snub

Nico Hulkenberg is a wonderful racer. Don’t take our word for it, just look at his season in 2020. Agreed, he was a sub driver for Racing Point for only a couple of Grand Prix, but his performance was very impressive. Meanwhile, him not bagging a seat for 2021 portrays the cut-throat competition in F1.
Red Bull had briefly considered the Rhinelander beside Verstappen in 2021. However, Sergio Perez kept delivering performances that just strengthened his case. Eventually the Mexican bagged his seat with the Milton Keynes outfit, while Nico looks for alternative options.
Nico Hulkenberg had thought this through. He was eyeing the possibility of being a sub driver as he was not sure whether he would get a seat in 2021. Well, he might as well have to rest with that thought and wait for his calling next season.

This news could have left the German devastated, but Nico was bigger than his grief. Although 2021 proves to be his second season without a seat, Nico does not drown in his sorrow. Instead, he let humor guard him from his thoughts. Earlier he posted a picture of himself on Instagram at a beach. He had a pitchfork dug into the sand and a wheelbarrow with dry hay. The picture quoted, “Plan B”

Nico Hulkenberg has several options outside F1
The joke, well placed, displays the jolly side of the racer. Renault had filled his seat with young Esteban Ocon and with Alonso’s return to the team, Nico did not have hopes to return to his former team. However, he had his eye on Red Bull, but after Checo, it feels, it will have to be Plan B for the racer.
Nico Hulkenberg has the potential to be in F1. Honestly, it is a shame that a driver of his rank could not secure a seat in F1. It portrays that the sport is competitive at all the wrong places. Drivers who have the mettle are not getting the chance because it is nothing but a game of money.

The Rhinelander was earlier heard considering his role as a sub driver. With the infection of COVID-19 still looming over our heads like an axe dangling on a loose string, we cannot dismiss the prospect. However, a steady career will have to be sought after by Hulkenberg and motorsports has several avenues for him.
He could try his hand at Endurance racing like Romain Grosjean plans to do. With several championships and annual events, he has several options to choose from.”Various inquiries from other racing series, but nothing specific‘ has hit the German. He probably will have to ‘look around for alternatives” stated Hulkenberg. Well, all the best to him and hopefully he can find his way back to the F1 paddock in the future.
