Nicole Scherzinger Was the Key To Unlocking Lewis Hamilton’s First of Seven Titles

The F1 community still remembers the relationship between Nicole Scherzinger and F1 star Lewis Hamilton. The duo was a favorite amongst crowds as one was a famed The Pussycat Dolls singer, while the other one was an exceptional car racer. Though the duo did not survive, ending their relationship after almost seven years, they had something special.

Sadly, their time apart, and the seven-time world champion’s intense schedule, did not allow them too much time.

However, back in 2008, the Knight thanked his girlfriend for keeping him happy, while also giving her credit for his success. The driver said, “You need a balance in life. My personal life and surrounding myself with my family makes me very happy and they all add to helping me achieve my goals.”

This was a direct admission from Hamilton about Scherzinger, where his happiness blossomed into wonderful on-track performances. Notably, 2008 was the then McLaren driver’s second year in F1, where he managed a world championship.

Scherzinger was often present in the McLaren garage to cheer him on. The 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix was a special event where the singer jumped throughout in excitement as Hamilton won his first ever championship in front of her.

What was Hamilton’s first championship in F1 like, though? He was only a rookie a year ago. But it didn’t seem like it as he drove sensationally to take 5 victories that year. His direct rival was Felipe Massa, who he beat by just 1 point. He was involved in one of the most dramatic races of his life, winning by scoring a mere fifth place at the last race.

The year was magnificent for the Briton, who breathed fresh air after Fernando Alonso’s departure. The driver had soon become the team lead, remaining unchallenged by his new teammate. It was a wonderful year for the driver, who also won his home race.
