It looks like Formula One fans are warming up to Nikita Mazepin. Fans have scrutinized endlessly the Russian driver since Haas F1 announced him as their new driver. Mazepin has slowly made progress into his F1 career and started to cut down on his mistakes.
He has also showcased his sense of humor on several occasions. In a recent Q/A session on the Haas F1 team’s social media, the Russian driver revealed his favorite F1 driver growing up. The answer may surprise a few fans.

The Russian driver reveals his F1 hero growing up
When asked about his F1 idol growing up, Nikita Mazepin mentioned the name of Michael Schumacher. This information is particularly interesting, as Mazepin’s current teammate is Michael Schumacher’s son, Mick.
“My favorite F1 driver growing up was Michael Schumacher,” reveals Mazepin. Nikita further explained why he idolized Schumacher in his early years.

“Because he was so dominating. When I was growing up, my first helmet was his replica,” mentioned Nikita.

As reported by planetf1, Haas are currently at the bottom of the standing in 2021. They have not been able to finish in the points once and only reached Q2 on one occasion in the qualifying. But Mazepin is confident that the team will fight for points soon.

“I think it’s never going to be easy because the other nine teams in the grid, they are not sleeping as well. Everyone wants to get those points and get those constructor positions. It’s really difficult, but I’m sure we’ll be better than this year. That’s the aim.
I’m sure we will be fighting for points at some point.” said Mazepin.

Nikita Mazepin needs to get his act together to help the American team next season to get back in the fight for points.
