Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has provided an update on the new Mercedes car for the 2022 season. Revealing that the car is no longer in its initial phase of development, he stated that the team has made progress in the wind tunnel and the car is slowly taking its form.

With the budget cap coming in, fans were worried that the German team would not be able to get enough wind tunnel time for their 2022 car owing to their title fight with Red Bull in 2021.

As reported by Speedweek, Wolff provided an update on the 2022 car, saying “It will, of course, be a great car. We have a star on our nose and some great AMG lettering on the car, and Petronas and all of our other friends are also on it. It looks great, of course,” said Toto.

It is, of course, still at an early stage. It is no longer a baby but a toddler who takes its first steps in the wind tunnel, in which we can estimate where the performance is headed.

“But at the end of the day, there is still a long way to go. We will develop into February for the specification, which will then go on the track at the start of the season next year, and between now and then there could be a few seconds of performance, “ Wolff clarified.

“The teams also didn’t want cars that keep losing parts. The new racers will be considerably more robust than today’s, “ said Brawn.

Well, we can only comment on the car’s attacking prowess when we see it in action next year. But one thing is for sure – the 2022 challenger looks breathtaking. Do you agree?
