Keeping the Canadian GP aside, Ferrari botching up strategies has become a regular thing in F1 now. Their race engineers are also known to not answer driver questions during the race. “We are checking” is a common response that the drivers get after asking a question. And that has become a very common meme template across social media platforms. But this time, using the same meme is none other than reigning World Champion Max Verstappen.

While Verstappen and Red Bull continue to win races effortlessly, Ferrari is struggling to see the podium. After 8 races, Max Verstappen alone has 195 points while Ferrari has only 122 points. Both Ferrari drivers, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have been visibly frustrated with the car and the strategies. And Verstappen is making the most of it, on and off the track.

Max Verstappen is an avid streamer as well, along with being the professional racer that he is. And in a recent sim racing stream, he and his companion racers took a not-so-subtle dig at Ferrari and more specifically, at Xavi Marcos Padros, Charles Leclerc‘s race engineer. They hilariously mocked Ferrari’s radio messages and that too, in Xavi’s accent.
Ferrari fans were disgruntled after looking at such mocking of their team and Xavi. But the Orange army and other fans pointed out the hypocrisy of Tifosi.

Charles Leclerc has been Ferrari’s number 1 driver since he joined Ferrari. But because of his race engineer’s odd calls among other factors, Leclerc never even came close to the Championship trophy. Ferrari fans have been quite vocal when it comes to bashing their own team. And they don’t seem to mind it when others do so too. But when it was Verstappen that chose to laugh at “their pain”, they could not handle it. They called Verstappen a “bully” and said that he has a “weird behavior”

Now, we can’t say who’s right and who’s wrong. However, from Verstappen’s end, it looked like some banter that one has when with friends. But in doing so, he has offended one of the biggest fan bases in F1, the Tifosi.
