Alfa Romeo have unveiled their 2023 livery, making them the fourth team to do so after Haas, Red Bull, and Williams. Additionally, the team made news by being the first to reveal the 2023 Formula 1 car, as up until that point, all releases had been of liveries. At a special launch event held on Tuesday morning in Zurich, the team unveiled their automobile. The car lacks the white that has been a staple of the established look. Instead, it has a red and carbon black livery created by the company’s main road car style department. The C43 clearly draws inspiration from its predecessor, but there is also a tonne of brand-new things to talk about. The floor border, however, has been the center of attention for social media fans.

In the Constructors’ Championships, Alfa finished the previous season in an improved sixth place, but it could have been better, as reliability and development issues were big hurdles for them. This season marks the final year of the partnership between Alfa Romeo and Sauber. From 2026 onward, Audi will control a majority of the squad and manage the Sauber team. The new livery signifies the departure of Alfa from Formula One, as well as the change of the title sponsor from Orlen to Stake.

The car’s floor edges, meanwhile, are precisely what caught the attention of the fans on Reddit. Under the livery, the team has concentrated on improving the aerodynamic philosophy of the previous car by revamping its rear suspension design, which has in turn enabled a new cooling package and bodywork forms.

F1 fans on social media get confused after seeing the floor adjustment of the Alfa Romeo

Another alteration from last season is the floor’s edge, which is mostly a response to the regulation modification that mandates a 15mm uplift. In Alfa Romeo’s example, the floor has been divided into many flaps in the middle and has been run at the lower height that is still allowed for the front and rear sections. These should increase airflow and assist in filling the performance gap caused by the regulatory adjustments. The modifications have been noticed by the fans on social media and that has prompted them to ask questions about the inappropriate floor adjustments on the social media platform.
