The F1 will welcome some new faces in the 2023 season, and Nyck de Vries will be one of them. After years of toil and perseverance, the Dutchman will be seen behind the wheel of an AlphaTauri. For this, he gives credit to the support of his loved ones who made all of this possible. Moreover, he mentioned in his most recent interview a very special person who gave his all to help De Vries get close to success.

The Dutchman has been the favorite to join Formula 1 after winning the Formula 2 title in 2019 and the Formula E championship in 2021. Following several tries, Nyck de Vries is now a Formula 1 driver. It is because of Red Bull that he was able to leave Mercedes’ camp and join their sister squad, AlphaTauri. After his outstanding performance with Williams in Monza, the Dutch racer took Pierre Gasly‘s place, who was headed for the Alpine. It was because of the firey debut that he caught the attention of multiple teams. Now, he looks back to the times when he had to work really hard to fulfill his desire.

In a recent interview, as quoted by motorsport.nextgen-auto, De Vries revealed that his father sold everything to make him what he is today. He said, “I discovered motorsport through my family. My father owned car dealerships and also participated in a few races. Cars have always been part of my family’s DNA, my great-grandfather having created dealerships and my dad ending up running them.”

“But my dad sold everything so he could put all his time and effort into my racing career. So it was my dream and my goal to be successful in motorsport, but that was also his.” [Translated Via Google]

As a result of displaying his incredible talent on the F1 racetrack, he has quickly become a famous face in the paddock. And now, the Dutchman has decided to employ a manager to handle all of his other responsibilities while he focuses solely on improving his driving.

Nyck de Vries finally hires a manager

The new AlphaTauri driver had previously been adamantly opposed to the idea of employing a manager since he could manage his workload on his own. However,  after signing the contract with AlphaTauri, the 27-year-old may require a person to handle his duties while he focuses on driving. The Dutchman will collaborate with Guillaume Le Goff for 2023, who is also employed by former AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly.

Since both parties have known one other for ten years and have worked together in the past, their connection is not new. Speaking with the Dutch subsidiary of Motorsport.com, De Vries stated, “When Pierre [Gasly] and I were teammates in Formula Renault 2.0, Guillaume, who was an engineer at ART, was responsible for the AOTech simulator. We spent a lot of time together during that period, because we were developing that simulator together.”

In addition, I did not want management that is very outspoken and visible. For me, the relationship between the team and myself is very important. Guillaume will therefore not sit in between. But he will relieve me of all kinds of things that play in the background.”
