When one looks at Lewis Hamilton, one sees not only a Formula 1 icon and a seven-time champion but also a fashion icon. A part of Hamilton’s second persona has been his long locks. Hamilton has had it all-the dreads, the blonde quiff, and cornrows- the list goes on. But there was a point, early in his career, where the star had a questionable bald look; a stark contrast to his hair now.
Hamilton’s look in his McLaren days and his look now have been completely different. With the Woking outfit, Hamilton had a clean bald look. With his hair requiring special care, the traveling that comes with the sport took a toll on the McLaren driver.

Why did Lewis start losing his hair?
Because of traveling so often, Hamilton didn’t have the appropriate hair products to take with him initially. Hence, during his McLaren days, the driver ended up washing his hair with hotel soap.

Hamilton had said, “I’ve been growing my hair out for a minute now I used to wash my hair with bath soap and genuinely anything I had at the time. Would wash it three times a day, morning, after training, and at night. So it was always dry.”

Using bad products took a toll on his hair, which made it thin out. As a result, by taking care of his hair since, the driver now has the iconic hair he has.
Lewis Hamilton hair transplant: The star speaks
Although there have been speculations and expert opinions stating otherwise, Hamilton has denied having a hair transplant. According to him, the secret was a change in lifestyle and the way he took care of his hair.

“I went to see a specialist who told me that if I didn’t start looking after it properly, I would start losing it in a short amount of time. Now, with the right advice, I use good products, it’s a priority to keep my hair healthy. I love having long, crazy hair. I don’t even want to cut it. Being educated about it was really something I’d been missing my whole life.”
As far as Hamilton claims, a transplant has never been in question.
Hair expert claims Hamilton has had a hair transplant
Although Hamilton denies a transplant, there have been experts who think otherwise. James Naden, believes, “he’s had a hair transplant.. and a good one as well.” Nadin believes Hamilton’s work has been done brilliantly.
He also disregards the hotel-soap story as “Ridiculous.”

The expert also added, “The existing hair that he still had on his head when he got the transplant might go in time… but once the [new] hair grows, its robust as anything – and you do what you want with it.”

Regardless, with healthier hair now, surely Hamilton has better things to worry about than his hair- an eighth world title in two races.
