Ocon Provides a Mouthwatering Update on Alpine’s 2022 F1 Car With Alonso Behind the Wheel

F1 is bringing in new regulations from the 2022 season. These new regulations will make cars better in the dirty air and also introduce 18-inch tires. Alpine driver Esteban Ocon has mentioned that he has tried the new 2022 cars on the simulator yet, but his teammate, Fernando Alonso, has.

Ocon stated he might try the new cars in sim next week. He decided to skip the simulator work for 2022 cars to better prepare for the triple-header in the 2021 cars.

Not me, but Fernando has already tried it: Esteban Ocon

As reported by Motorsport. it, the French driver stated it will really competitive at the beginning of the 2022 season. He expects the grid to be closer to each other before they spread out in the coming years.

“Not me, but Fernando has already tried it. I drove the 2021 car in the simulator to prepare for the Spa – Zandvoort – Monza hat-trick. I think I’ll try it next week.” said Ocon.

“It will be a faster car to drive. Usually, when there is a twist of the rules at the beginning, it is slower, but then, with the development, the teams are able to recover that deficit within the year. I hope we will be really competitive.” stated Esteban as he predicts a closer grid in 2022.

The Alpine driver mentions the struggles ahead of Albon in 2022

Alex Albon recently signed with Williams for the 2022 season. After a hiatus of a year, the young Thai driver is back in the sport. Alpine driver Ocon mentioned he can relate to the situation with Albon as he too spent a year on the sidelines in 2019.

Esteban returned to the sport at the beginning of the 2020 season with Renault. He managed to score a podium in his season back in the sport.
