Recently there has been a strict clampdown on some very interesting rules. These rules involve fireproof underwear and jewelry. The Red Bull team boss, Christian Horner, is one of those in the paddock that find this whole ordeal hilarious. He also found little interest in what one of the F1 race directors, Niels Wittich, had to say regarding the same.

Christian Horner laughs off the new rules

Christian Horner found it hysterical that the FIA was going after the drivers and undergarments of drivers. The drivers now have to wear fireproof underwear, and cannot wear jewelry in the cockpit of their cars. However, Horner said, “I’m certainly not going to check whether our drivers meet that requirement.”

Horner jokingly added, “That is more a task for the team manager, although I have heard from reliable sources that the drivers often get into the car in commando (without underwear). Hopefully, that won’t be a problem for them.”

This leaves the question open about Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s undergarment situation. He continued dishing out the wisecrack, “I understand it was an entertaining driver briefing, but in order to save weight, it’s helpful if drivers don’t wear jewelry or underwear anymore.”

Red Bull’s mixed bag of results in 2022

The team has had a mixture of results when it has come to the start of this season. Lady luck has not always sided with the team. The season opener saw both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez retire due to a suspected fuel pump issue. However, the second race in Jeddah saw the duo redeem themselves.

Perez secured pole and Verstappen managed to sneak the race win away from Charles Leclerc. The third race in Australia saw Sergio Perez secure a P2. However, Max Verstappen was not that fortunate with another DNF to his name.
