Absolutely no one on the entire grid and perhaps the history of the sport is as passionate about sim racing as Max Verstappen. The Dutchman has truly made racing his one true passion, and he is practicing it in all forms. Because of his obligations to Formula 1 and Red Bull, Verstappen has fulfilled his desire to compete in endurance racing. However, he is knee-deep in the next best option, which is simulation racing. The Dutchman is hooked on the life-like feel of sim racing. Moreover, sometimes he gets too invested and lets his emotions get the best of him. This is what we saw in the space of one day in the world of sim racing with Verstappen at the helm.

During the weekend break from F1, Verstappen hopped online to compete in the iRacing Golden Toast GP at Spa. However, the F1 world champion was disqualified midway from the race (more on this story later). To add to his sim racing chaos, Red Bull gave him another task on their simulator.

As seen in the YouTube video posted by Red Bull a day after his disqualification, the team gave all their drivers an impossible task. The task was to complete one full lap on the Silverstone track but with a twist.

This task involved all three Red Bull men, Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo, and Sergio Perez. However, only Verstappen was on the wheel, but with a blindfold. His eyes were Ricciardo guiding him through every turn on the Silverstone circuit. Last but not least, Sergio Perez was controlling the pedals.

In the snippet shared on Instagram, the video was captioned, “When we say expect chaos, this is what we mean 😬.”

By now we are all aware the Red Bull Dutchman is a serious sim racer. He cleared any doubts about the topic with his extravagant sim racing setup. Verstappen got on the same setup to participate in the iRacing Golden Toast sim racing GP on the weekend.

However, the Dutchman was disqualified from the race at Spa-Francorchamps. Why? Let us give you the reason behind it.

In the 3-hour sim race, German driver Sven-Ole Hasse pushed Verstappen from behind coming out of the La Source corner. This forced Verstappen into his Team Redline teammate Diogo Pinto. This collision spun both Verstappen and Pinto, effectively ruining their race. Now, knowing Verstappen, he wasn’t going to let this fly and immediately retaliated.

The Dutchman jumped a few places with the escape route a few corners later and found himself behind Hasse. A few moments later, the Dutchman rammed his car into the back of Hasse’s car, forcing both of them off the track.

Based on his dashcam footage, Verstappen was adjudged to have forced the collision on purpose as revenge.
