Max Verstappen burst onto the F1 scene in 2015. However, even though he showed us some sparks of brilliance in his earlier years, the promise of a legitimate World Champion only crystallized in 2021. That being said, in a span of just a couple of seasons, he’s registered himself amongst some of the greatest names in this sport. Naturally, the only logical question that beckons is; is there anyone who can dethrone the incumbent king? Well, according to 2016 F1 Champion, Nico Rosberg, he knows just the man!
Defeating Max Verstappen is no mean feat. Just ask his teammates and they’ll tell you all about it. But amongst the roster of the current drivers on the F1 grid, there is just one man who has what it takes to bring the Dutch lion to his knees.

Speaking to Sport1 Germany, Rosberg said, “Lewis is the only one who could be at his level , that is to say, more or less at the same level, if they had the same car. He has been stronger than his teammate.” [translated via Google Translate]
“The current and the previous ones, they are not idiots, of course, think of Gasly or all the others, they do not even reach half the level of Max. He’s had moments where he’s been close, but for the rest, he’s been in no man’s land compared to Verstappen.”

Just being able to drive at his peak in a competition where the likes of Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher have competed would be an achievement in itself. But Verstappen has gone and done himself one better. According to Rosberg, his name will be immortalized next to the GOATs of our beloved sport.
In the same interview, he said, “Max Verstappen is simply a brilliant driver. I am pretty sure that very soon he will join the top five F1 drivers of all time.
