The silly season of F1 was full of drama and McLaren and Alpine contributed a lot to it. The 2 teams fighting for Oscar Piastri’s services for next season were a big talking point midway through the season. McLaren eventually won the case and signed the Australian to partner alongside Lando Norris.

McLaren and Alpine have had a contrasting season. While McLaren is only 11 points behind Alpine, they have struggled with reliability issues all season. Furthermore, the poor form of Daniel Ricciardo has hurt the Woking-based team in their challenge for P4.

Moreover, Oscar Piastri shared his experience about his year off with Alpine in the PitStop podcast. He shares how he processed the disappointment that he won’t drive an F1 car after winning the F2 season.

Piastri said, “I was announced as Alpine’s reserve things before the last two rounds of F2 so I knew from before the season finished I wasn’t going to be an F1 the next year which was a bit disappointing, I can’t lie.”

He further continued, “Looking up to for the last four or five years and you know everyone’s there racing all the people that I raced against the year before over there racing, and then there’s kind of just me standing there watching so you know that was a bit hard to deal.”

Alpine boss claims “justice prevailed” after the FIA overturned Fernando Alonso’s penalty

Fernando Alonso drove mightily and finished P7 despite a collision with his future teammate Lance Stroll in Austin. However, the FIA handed him a 30-second penalty after the race as Haas protested that the Spaniard’s car was in a dangerous condition and finished the race with no rear visibility.

But the FIA overturned Alonso’s penalty and restored his P7 finish in the US GP, much to the delight of Alpine. Their team principal, Otmar Szafnauer, shared his opinion after the verdict.

Talking to Motorsports.com, Otmar said, “I think we got the result that F1 deserved, really. I believe justice prevailed, even though I have my natural biases because I’m for this team and wanted to see him in seventh.”

Moreover, Haas also put in their request after the deadline. Otmar then claimed that it should have never been heard in the first place. The Romanian-American engineer was delighted that the FIA came to the correct conclusion.
