Since his arrival at Ferrari with lots of glitter and hope in his eyes, the golden boy of Ferrari, Charles Leclerc, has been the love of the Tifosi. Regardless of how his overall time with the team has been, the Monegasque has given the fans innumerable glorious moments. Right from his Monza win in 2019 to his latest victory in Austria in 2022, they’ve seen it all. But despite all the efforts from both ends, the failures of either of the two have held them back collectively, making them a match made in heaven.
Together, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc have seen some bad times on the track. Despite that, the two appear to be unformidable and inseparable. The driver has reaffirmed his commitments several times and has eyes on no other seat, as per several reports. Having tasted a short-lived success in 2022 with the team, the aspirations took a massive boost. Even with a slump this year and many fans wanting him to switch teams, the 25-year-old can’t be imagined in any other color. Speaking about Leclerc’s time at Ferrari, Damon Hill has an interesting take.

Speaking on the Sky Sports F1 podcast, the former world champion said, “I think he’s rather stuck at Ferrari for a bit. I don’t know. I mean, I would say he’s never really been in an extended campaign for the championship. It’s always been moments and it’s been it’s been good. And then they faded or more… And I think Charles is a perfect fit for Ferrari. I think he’s there for the long term until they give him a car that he can go for a championship with.”
He added this as he went on to assess the available options for the Monegasque. However, regardless of the fact that there might be no seat available for him to grab, Hill urged Leclerc not to make a switch for a few years. He suggested he should wait until it becomes absolutely necessary in the future.

So far, Mercedes has emerged as the strongest name to compete for Charles Leclerc. They emerged as the contender because of their recent success and, in case the team’s negotiations with Lewis Hamilton fail. But many, including Frederic Vasseur himself, have ruled out that story, as Leclerc seems to have made his thoughts clear with the stable.
Not surprisingly, Damon Hill names the rising Aston Martin as a possible future destination for the Ferrari golden boy. Having seen four podiums in the first five rounds by Fernando Alonso, Hill remarked, “Aston Martin are a coming team. Possibly, if it continues to be dire at Ferrari, then maybe he’ll look elsewhere, but I think he’s better off where he is.”

For now, though, Leclerc seems to be content with Ferrari. Having seen the dominance of Red Bull this season, the team would need something strong to keep him. With the current contract ending in 2024, his services should not be taken for granted.
