Pierre Gasly got the internet talking when he posted a photo of himself with NBA legend Michael Jordan on Instagram. The six-time champion needs no introduction and is the greatest athlete in the world of basketball. His time at Chicago Bulls cemented his name as part of the greatest team association anyone has ever seen.

It is any fan’s dream to meet their childhood hero, Gasly is one of the few lucky ones to have done it. This weekend in Miami is seeing worlds collide. The best drivers in the world competing in the most elite form of motorsports are meeting some of the greatest athletes.

While Gasly was still ecstatic after meeting Michael Jordan, Daniel Ricciardo got emotional in the comment section. “I actually think I would cry”, commented the Australian. And anyone who knows Daniel knows that the McLaren driver absolutely loves the yelling the Frenchman’s name in the paddock.

Daniel loves soaking up the Miami heat

Although Daniel may not have been able to meet Michael Jordan, the eight-time Grand Prix winner has been soaking up the Miami heat. His love for the USA is well documented. From the food to the culture, the Honey Badger really lets his guard down while in the States.

“The US is like a second home to me, so I can’t wait to get on track in front of the fans and soak up the amazing atmosphere in the city. Miami knows how to put on a show so it’s shaping up to be an incredible weekend.”

Like most drivers, he too has a new helmet for the debut Miami GP. While he hasn’t revealed too many details, he did say that it was a tribute to Miami in the 90s. This makes fans eager to see what Daniel has in store for us.

Reflecting on a difficult Imola weekend, Ricciardo is looking to do better in Miami. “Last race was a very tough one for me after sustaining damage on the first lap, but I’m bouncing back stronger and I’m ready to go,” he said. “We still have a lot of improvements to make to the car, but Lando’s result in Imola was very encouraging.”
