“Playing Together in the Pool” – Verstappen Recalls Fond Childhood Memories of Michael Schumacher

Max Verstappen has been around the world of motorsport all his life. He was destined to be a Formula One driver since the beginning. He has stated on many occasions that he used to come to the paddock as a kid to see his father, Jos Verstappen, race in Formula One.

Jos and 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher were racing in Formula One at the same time. Max mentioned he shared a very special bond with the German racing legend and would spend time with him, even off-track.

Max Verstappen shares his fond memories of Michael Schumacher

As reported by Gazzetta. it, the Dutch driver mentioned he has some fond memories of the former Ferrari driver. He stated he used to spend time with Schumacher in the pool when he was young.

“I have videos of Michael and myself playing together in the pool and it’s always nice to see them again. He’s always been a family man and super nice.” said the Red Bull driver.

Max also mentioned he is happy that Michael’s son, Mick Schumacher, is now racing in F1.

“Now his son Mick is in F1 and I’m really pleased about that. When we were little, we used to play together, trying to communicate in our own language, because Mick spoke German and I spoke Dutch. It’s fun to think back to those days.” said Max.

Red Bull driver expects a tough challenge from Mercedes on Sunday

Max Verstappen will start the race on pole position at the Italian Grand Prix. He mentioned that despite Hamilton starting from P4 and Bottas starting from the back, he expects a tough challenge from the Mercedes duo.

“Of course, we have to make a pit stop tomorrow and if you are close to someone, you can do an undercut, and then you are in front of it again. So I expect Lewis to come forward on Sunday and then it won’t be easy for us,” he said.

Verstappen will look to extend on his championship lead and win an easy race as he starts from the front.
