George Russell is slowly but surely getting back his consistency streak after the fiasco at the Singapore GP. At the US Grand Prix last weekend, after a disastrous brush with Carlos Sainz, Russell managed to place P5 while his teammate finished second. Despite the decent results, the Mercedes team was plagued by the incident with Carlos Sainz, as well as with Red Bull once again beating Lewis Hamilton to the finish line.

Mercedes has not had the best season this year. But, by no means does that make them lose their cheer and spirit.

Toto Wolff and the two George Russells

In a comedy skit recently uploaded by the Mercedes team, fans saw Toto Wolff and George Russell enacting a hilarious moment with the famous impersonator, Conor Moore.

Moore has been known to impersonate famous sports stars. He has previously interacted with Daniel Ricciardo and, recently, Carlos Sainz. In the skit with Mercedes, Moore impersonated Russell. Wearing the Mercedes driver’s outfit, Moore is heard speaking to the team principal with full confidence. And that is when George Russell himself catches them in the act, and hilarity ensues.

Fans couldn’t stop cheering for Wolff’s acting skills and Moore’s excellent impersonation. Moore also uploaded the video to his channel, sparking delighted reactions from fans on both sides.

When he said “I’m booming with confidence Toto!” he literally took over George’s spirit, that’s how accurate this was

“Cheers Mercedes for doing this funny skit with him. So good.”

“This guy went from parodizing Drivers in front a green screen to make collabs with them, legend.”

“Gotta give it to Toto for keeping a straight face throughout”

Oh my God! Just when I think today couldn’t get any better! Yes! Thank you, Conor! Poor George was already losing it.

“Well done Toto, George & Mercedes! Such sports! This was wholesome!”

Reactions went beyond YouTube, as even fans on Twitter chipped in with their approval.

Conor Moore has been slowly gaining popularity among F1 fans with his collaborations. The skit with Mercedes is sure to spark more interest as the team that was ruling the F1 scene for seven years is caught in a goofy moment.

Nyck de Vries to drive for Mercedes in Mexico GP FP1

Conor Moore is not the only one to be in George Russell’s shoes this month. Earlier this week, it was announced that Nyck de Vries would take the place of Russell at the first free practice session ahead of the Mexico GP.

Nyck de Vries was earlier the reserve driver for Mercedes and made his stunning debut with Williams at the Italian Grand Prix. However, as demand for the talented Dutchman increased, de Vries signed with AlphaTauri for the 2023 season.

Given the rivalry between Red Bull and Mercedes, Nyck de Vries turning to Red Bull‘s sister team and now coming back to drive in FP1 for Mercedes is a tad awkward, to say the least. However, the Mercedes team principal brushed off all such concerns with his words.

“We are excited to see him back in the W13 and seeing how he performs.”
