George Russell has managed to surprise everyone with a slew of impressive performances in 2020. He has managed to take Williams out of the first Qualifying session 7 times this season.
Even in the midst of such a performance, it is speculated that he might lose his seat at Williams for the 2021 season. A situation that F1 drivers are all too familiar with, Renault’s Esteban Ocon recently opened up about the Brit’s ordeal.
Ocon drew a parallel of Russell’s position with his own towards the end of the 2018 season. At the end of 2018, with Force India’s departure, Ocon had lost his seat and had to join Mercedes as their reserve driver for 2019.

Ocon further added, “So it would be not justified for him to not be on the grid next year. But that’s how Formula 1 is. It can be cruel sometimes. And I’ve paid that price at the end of 2018 for 2019. I hope this won’t be the case for him.”

George Russel has also outperformed his teammate in all 33 races consistently. He has even managed to take Williams to Qualifying 2 seven-times this season.

Understandably, Esteban Ocon feels Russell’s pain. He lost his seat, not for the lack of talent and something similar is happening with George Russell at the moment. Moreover, it is Sergio Perez once again taking the seat away. Hopefully, this won’t be the last we see of George Russell in Formula 1.
