Ferrari fans have not been happy with their team for multiple reasons. Some even believe that Sebastian Vettel has contributed to their overall underperformance.

Despite both drivers’ best efforts, Ferrari’s SF1000 has just not been a decent drive. Severely lacking in power and performance, it left the Prancing Stallion stranded in 6th on the Constructors’ standings.

The Maranello-based outfit have been coming up with a set of upgrades to bolster their performances on the track. What’s more, those upgrades were tested in Sochi during the Russian Grand Prix and led to a slight improvement in performance.

Sebastian Vettel also knows that things are coming to an end

The 33-year-old’s name was on everyone’s lips after Ferrari revealed that they were looking to part ways early this year. However, that story now has a conclusion, and a positive one at that, with Vettel joining the ranks of Aston Martin F1 for 2021.

But, with emphasis on the present season, Vettel believes that the car by itself is tough to control and handle. Vettel was quoted as saying, “I think obviously this year’s car is not easy to drive for both of us.

“I’m sitting in all the meetings Charles is participating as well, and I think we share that opinion. But I think it’s quite clear obviously that you’re going to part ways, it’s always going to be a different sort of love story.

“Nevertheless, I respect all the work that has been going on my side and in the last years.”

What remains for Vettel to achieve this season?

It looks like race wins, and podiums are out of reach. From that perspective, the best objective for the team is to get a detailed analysis ahead of the 2021 season.

With the new upgrades fitted in, the Italian kingpins will need to make the most of the data they collect. And considering how the cars may not be a far cry from the 2020 editions, their focus will lie on making the 2021 car as stable as possible.

Vettel will want to buck up with his own performances in the remaining 6 races this year. And that needs to start with a decent points finish at Portimao.

He is currently 13th on the Drivers’ table, with 17 points. And considering the circumstances, a Top-10 finish will certainly bolster his confidence to a great extent.
