The podium holders were seen answering questions in FIA’s post-race conference in Portugal. In the video conference, Valtteri Bottas said that he feels like he’s still peaking.

Valtteri Bottas was questioned on the possibility of him beating Lewis Hamilton. Bottas acknowledged that beating Lewis is not an easy feat.
“It’s difficult, but I know it’s possible and that’s the thing. And if I give up, it won’t ever be possible and that will be the biggest mistake to do,” he answered.

On Max being younger, the Finn pointed out that he still has a few years left under his belt. He clarified, “Obviously Max is a bit younger, I’m 31 now but I still feel like I’m peaking.

“I’m not yet there and hopefully, soon, I will be and I also feel I still have quite a few years and I’ll keep pushing and that’s it.” Bottas mentioned that it’s not easy to beat Lewis. He further added that he doesn’t want things to be easy for him.
The 31-year-old was on top of Lewis Hamilton all weekend at Portimao; that is, until the champion’s last lap at qualifying where he stole the pole position from Valtteri on his last lap.

Valtteri Bottas is currently P2 in the Drivers’ Championship standings with 179 points, barely 17 points off of Max Verstappen at P3.
