Lewis Hamilton broke yet another record of most Formula 1 race wins this season. The Briton also won the seventh world title of his career, equaling Michael Schumacher‘s record. However, the highlight of the year for the Briton has to be when the Royal family announced his knighthood.

Most believe that the award was long due, and reports suggest the delay was due to issues with his tax affairs. The announcement of Hamilton‘s knighthood was made soon after the tax issue was dealt with.

The Formula 1 community strongly believes that Lewis Hamilton deserves this honor. Martin Brundle hails the Briton’s career and explains why he deserves the honor.
He said, “Most of the young guns aiming to knock him off the pedestal are ten to fifteen years younger than him and he still turns up with his A-game.”
“Full of energy, pushing like crazy. So, if anybody, in sporting terms, deserves this recognition, then surely it’s Sir Lewis Hamilton,” concluded the former Formula 1 driver.

Brundle congratulates Lewis Hamilton on his achievement
Lewis Hamilton made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2007. He had an impeccable debut season as he missed the championship title by just one point. However, he redeemed himself next season as he claimed his first championship by the barest of margins.
Martin Brundle laid out Hamilton’s career and said, “He tops the tables in Formula 1 for most victories- 95, Most pole position- 98, most podiums at a 164.”

“Congratulation to him and very well deserved. Seven world titles he has in his pocket now equalling the great Michael Schumacher,” concluded the F1 commentator.

Hamilton’s fellow British driver, Lando Norris, also believes that he deserves the knighthood. “He has led both on and off the track and other athletes who have done such things in sport have been honoured so I see no reason why he shouldn’t,” said the young McLaren driver.
The Mercedes driver has expressed his intention of continuing his partnership with the Brackley team. Hamilton will join the grid next season, looking to claim a record-breaking eighth world title of his career.
