Daniel Ricciardo‘s love for America and American sports is no secret by now. Make that American motorsport and immediately there comes an extra spice to it. Given how big a fanbase the Honey Badger has built in the US over the years, every little possibility of seeing him race in one of their local championships sends fans into a frenzy. While Ricciardo’s love for America was always there, his popularity in the States only picked up a few years ago. The reason behind it is the same as the reason behind F1’s growing popularity in America- Netflix. The streaming giant’s docuseries on the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1: Drive to Survive gave a big boost to F1’s popularity. Daniel acknowledged Netflix’s role in his recent appearance on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show.

Daniel Ricciardo to IndyCar rumors pick up once again

After Ricciardo mutually ended his contract with McLaren prematurely and cleared his intentions of staying away from F1 for a year, IndyCar’s Pato O’Ward offered him to join the Series. However, citing his fear of racing on oval tracks, Daniel respectfully refused.

Since then, everyone knew that it would take a bit of persuasion to get the Honey Badger in the Series. Fans are now urging Scott McLaughlin to do that as the Kiwi posted a picture with his friend from Down Under.

Daniel is currently out on a spree of promotional appearances for Red Bull.
