Max Verstappen won the drivers’ championship in what would go down as one of the best seasons ever. The Red Bull driver edged out his title rival Lewis Hamilton on the last lap of the last race to take the title. Former world champion Alain Prost stated the Dutchman had the perfect season.
Verstappen won 10 races and had 10 pole positions throughout the year. He finished 1st or 2nd in every race in which he finished and did not have damage to his car. Prost also recognized Max’s achievements and mentioned that the young driver was on another level in 2021.

“Max actually had the perfect season this year. When he only just started in Formula 1, I remember very well that we said, ‘he has the speed, he has everything, but he still makes a lot of mistakes because he wants too much.’ But that is also normal when you are still young.” Prost said.

In the past year, Max almost didn’t make a mistake. Maybe only the one during qualifying in Jeddah, but hey, he was pushing so insanely hard there, too. This year he was ready to storm the top,” Prost added.
