When Formula One rules had changed in 2009, it was Brawn GP that came out on top, surprising everyone on the grid. The team won both, the drivers’ championship as well as the constructors’ title. Now in 2022, we are on the verge of entering a new era of racing. Hence, keeping that in mind, some new teams might dominate the track. However, Red Bull’s advisor, Dr.Helmut Marko is of another opinion.

The Austrian boss doesn’t think a mid-field team will suddenly come on top. In fact, he believes that Mercedes and Red Bull will continue to be the top contenders in 2022.

The new regulations are meant to shake up the power balance on the grid. However, Marko doesn’t think it will make a difference and feels that their rivals from Brackley will continue to be on top alongside the Milton Keynes-based outfit.

As quoted from Motorsport.total.com, Marko said, “With the standard that teams like Mercedes and Red Bull have today – with simulation, computers and all the resources – I don’t believe in it.”

He also believes that Ferrari can improve in 2022, stating that they could win a race. He said, “One or the other race.” Having overcome their engine problems Marko feels that Ferrari could pose a threat on the track. He added, “The last step they took with the engine was clear.” (Translated from German via Google)
