Max Verstappen “looking to build on those performances in 2022,” says Red Bull boss

As reported by GPFans, the Dutch driver will be hungry to retain his title this season. The sport is bringing in new regulations and new cars to make the grid closer to each other and promote better racing. Horner praised Verstappen for his performances last season and mentioned that he would look to build on that success.

“For Max, he was just phenomenal last year, an outstanding season. He dominated. The amount of laps led, 10 Grand Prix victories, and, of course, the world championship, so his confidence is going to be sky-high. So he’s looking to build on those performances in 2022,” said Horner.

It will be interesting to see if the Austrian team can start the new season competitively. Because of the intense nature of the 2021 championship, their complete focus was on last season, rather than preparing for the 2022 season.

“The strength in depth we have in the team, the way they coped through the pandemic to continue to develop the car the way we did and to deal with the challenges that we faced last year, has really galvanized the team. We go into 2022 in great shape and are looking forward to the season ahead,” said Christian.

Let’s hope for Max’s sake and the team’s sake that they can ride the wave of their 2021 success. The first race of the season will give us an idea if they will be in contention once again.
