Red Bull has been at the top of its game this season. Not only are they on course to win a double Championship, but it is the manner in which they have dominated the entire grid that has been impressive. Christian Horner took this opportunity to take a dig at rivals Mercedes, expressing how he expected Mercedes to put on a fight again this year in an attempt to take revenge for last year’s fiasco.

Mercedes have struggled all season with car issues. The Silver Arrows are without a win this year, with George Russell grabbing the team’s sole pole position. Things certainly seem to have improved from the start of the season. However, the Brackley-based outfit is still nowhere near Red Bull’s pace.

As Mercedes struggles on its way back to the top, rival boss Christian Horner shared his amusement regarding their W-13 car.

Speaking to F1’s Beyond the Grid podcast, Horner said, “Yes, because they transitioned early. They made quite a noise about compromising last year’s championship because of moving over very early onto their 2022 car”

He further added, “You just, expectations from seeing how dominant Mercedes have been, was that they would be in a very very similar position. Obviously hurt last year getting beat, we felt that they would come back with a “renewed vengeance” for this year,”

Red Bull has won 5 races in a row as Mercedes continue to seek their first. Time is quickly running out for the Silver Arrows to find their first win of the season.

Christian Horner says anything is possible as he talks about the ‘Red Bull era’

Mercedes are set to lose its Constructors’ Championship crown to Red Bull after wearing it for 8 years. Furthermore, Christian Horner has stated that ‘anything is possible’ while discussing a potential repeat of Red Bull’s 2009-2013 era.

Horner said, “If we manage to pull off back to back Championships, which hopefully we can do with Max, and if we’re able to, for the first time in 8 years be the only team to beat Mercedes in the Constructor’s Championship, that’s an enormous feat.”

“It just shows that if you never give up, anything is possible now”

The Brit doesn’t rule out the possibilities of a ‘Red Bull era’. However, he does admit that the high level of competition on the grid will make it challenging for any possible period of domination. Besides, it will be a monumental task for any team to replicate Mercedes’ dominance.
