Toto Wolff had said, “The car has been performing well recently and is probably in the best place it has been all season, with the drivers confident to push it to the limit. That’s encouraging for the final races and gives us strong momentum to take forward.”

On the other side, stood Christian Horner. “Fighting for two world championships is exactly what we’ve worked hard for. We’re going into the last few races and it’s extremely close… in previous years we’d have bitten your arm off to be in this position at this point in the championship.”

With Hamilton eight points behind his challenger and Mercedes five points ahead of Red Bull- this is as close as it gets.
