Red Bull Racing finally ended their eight-year constructors’ championship draught in 2022. After the first three races, the RB18 and Max Verstappen made an unstoppable combination. The team back in Milton Keynes made an absolute beast of a car with RB18. Verstappen reaped most of the rewards of the car by winning a record 15 races in a single season. However, it was the consistent efforts behind the car by an entire team of engineers that made the RB18 an unstoppable force.

Red Bull celebrated these people behind the machinery in a video. The team invited a handful of engineers to bid farewell to one of their proudest creations to date. The stories the engineers shared tell us what an incredible team effort it takes to make a championship-winning car.

Farooq Rauf, the lead electronics engineer, detailed the number of people involved in the discussion as the season progressed. “I remember the early office design meetings over the summer had 20 people in it initially. As the year got on at the end of the year, there were 80 people in the meeting,” he revealed. “You know there’s a lot of everyone contributing trying to make this car.”

He said, “Obviously with rule changes in the middle of the season, that was a big challenge. I think you know that was very satisfying at Spa. We brought all those changes in and we had a really dominant race result and I think really kinda cemented all the work that I’d and all the people who have been working with did.”
