The F1 2022 season has moved to Australia for the third race of the year. Further, most of the teams revealed new tricks up their sleeves in the Friday practice at the Albert Park Circuit.

FIA recently released the information about all the upgrades the F1 teams introduced in the Friday Practice session in Australia. It seems most of the teams have come up with new upgrades, including the favorites Ferrari and Red Bull.

What are the upgrades F1 teams introduced for round 3?

The reigning constructors’ champion has been struggling with significant porpoising. So, there were speculations about introducing a new rear wing and even a floor in Australia. However, Mercedes didn’t come up with any new upgrades. In addition, AlphaTauri and Alfa Romeo also didn’t have any upgrades on their 2022 challengers in the Friday Practice in Australia.

Most of the teams came up with upgrades to improve their 2022 challengers’ aerodynamics. So, most of the upgrades are related to wings. Like Red Bull upgrades the front wing endplate to maintain their aerodynamic superiority while trying to decrease the car’s weight.

Meanwhile, Ferrari and Haas F1 introduced a new diffuser to improve the rear downforce and the car’s stability. The French constructors Alpine had two upgrades on their A522. They upgraded the floor and rear brake cover to improve the rear flow.

McLaren upgraded the rear corner of the winglets and Aston Martin had a new rear wing on the Friday Practice for improved aerodynamic performance. Further, Williams came up with several upgrades like beam wing, floor, front wing, and front brake duct for better performance.

Were the new upgrades helpful in Australian Friday Practice?

The Upgrades introduced by Ferrari and Red Bull were helpful. As they continued with their dominance in both the practice sessions. Although the Italian team had an edge over the Milton Keynes base.

The floor and rear brake covers helped Alpine a lot. In both the practice sessions, the Alpine duo was in the Top 10. Further, Fernando Alonso bagged P4 in the FP2. Meanwhile, the papaya team McLaren has been struggling with their MCL36. But the new upgrades significantly improved their performance. As both drivers were in the Top 10, including homeboy Daniel Ricciardo.

Aston Martin wasn’t able to impress the Aussie crowd with their new upgrades. Also, Williams wasn’t able to do much, even after so many upgrades they introduced for Australia. Meanwhile, Haas saw a drop in performance. After the impressive run in Bahrain and Jeddah, their FP1 and FP2 were disappointing.
