Formula 1 is arguably as much about the cars as it is about the drivers. So naturally, credit must be given where credit is due. Red Bull took to their social media platforms to pay homage to the RB18, which, statistically, is their most successful car ever.

As of writing this, Red Bull has won 4 constructor’s championships and 6 driver’s championships since 2010. The RB18 must be a special beast to be handed the title of being their most successful car ever. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit has gone on to recognize truly how special the RB18 really is.

The Bulls took to their social media accounts to celebrate and honor the RB18. But what exactly makes their 2022 challenger that special? Well, “The RB18 was good for fourteen wins during the 2022 season, twelve of which are in the name of Max Verstappen. The previous record was thirteen in 2013, all won by Sebastian Vettel.” [translated via Google Translate]

As things stand, Max is in touching distance of equaling, if not breaking, Seb’s most wins in a season record of 13.

The RB18 is, of course, the brainchild of Red Bull’s legendary designer Adrian Newey. Even though Newey has been at the helm of designing myriad Championship conquering cars, the RB18 holds a very special place in his heart.

Adrian Newey hails the RB18 as his most “rewarding” project while also heaping praise on Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen clinched his second World Championship at the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix. Even though he was unbeatable this season, he was able to display his supreme driving skills in part because of the package provided to him by Newey and Red Bull in the form of the RB18.

The RB18 has been all-conquering this season. With the potential of maintaining a win percentage of 81.81%, which no car has ever achieved, Newey was overwhelmed by his most precious design. “I’m not very good [with] numbers, but that’s very rewarding to know! We’ve obviously had a good run.”

However, he also had high words of praise for the man who led the car to the zenith of Formula 1. “Max has been absolutely superb this year. Obviously in the traffic in Singapore he made a little mistake, but apart from that, he’s made absolutely no mistakes. [He’s been] very mature and always had the speed, so I think he thoroughly deserves all the success he’s having this year.”
