It’s been over 6 weeks and the storm created by the Christian Horner controversy hasn’t subsided. Despite getting his name cleared after going through the due process, there still seems to be dissatisfaction among many F1 entities. Now, the female employee who filed the complaint and sparked the investigation, and who got the axe as a result, is speaking up. The female employee feels there is a lack of transparency in the investigation, which has resulted in her firing, and demands a more open examination.

Many F1 bosses highlighted how serious these accusations are and how Red Bull has the reputation of the entire sport in their hands. However, after the not-guilty verdict, Red Bull’s statement wasn’t enough to convince anyone. There was still ambiguity and secrecy around the 100-page investigation. As reported by Daily Mail and quoted by Italian publication Gazzetta, this is exactly the concern of the disgruntled female employee.

“She expressed her concerns privately and did everything right, but she feels very disappointed by the company. They suspended her even though she followed the process diligently and correct,” revealed the Daily Mail source.“Just look at what happened. She had asked for an apparently transparent and independent investigation. Result: Horner was acquitted and she was suspended.”

Not just the verdict, the source also questioned the modus operandi applied. “Who at Red Bull was responsible for ascertaining the facts? Who had access to all the confidential and then used material? Who is making all these decisions and who is working to establish the source of these leaks any news?” Important questions with no answers.

The employee still cannot cope with the fact despite following the due process diligently, she hasn’t gotten the verdict she deserves. However, she isn’t alone in this feeling of uneasiness toward the entire saga. Other bosses, namely Zak Brown and Toto Wolff, are also conflicted about the secretary surrounding this entire controversy.
Toto Wolff and Zak Brown demand more transparency in the Christian Horner saga
When an entity like Christian Horner is put under doubt, the entire sport comes under question. This is exactly what many suggested when Red Bull began its investigation because of the highly public nature of the sport. However, the Austrian team’s decision to keep most of its findings confidential isn’t helping Horner maintain faith around the paddock. This is exactly what the Mercedes and McLaren bosses predicted would happen.

Toto Wolff said, “Well I just read the statement, which was pretty basic, I would say. My personal opinion is we can’t really look behind the curtain. And I believe that with the aspirations as a global sport, on such critical topics, it needs more transparency and I wonder what the sport’s position is.”
The McLaren boss agreed and said, “I read this statement. I think from what I’ve seen there continues to be a lot of rumours and speculation, questions. There’ll continue to be speculation because there are a lot of unanswered questions about the whole process.”
As we have already seen, there have been a lot of speculations and rumors surrounding the controversy which doesn’t seem to die down. So it’s now up to Red Bull to either clear the air or continue to put a target on Horner’s back.
