The Mexican GP isn’t usually the track that comes to one’s mind when they think of amazing races. In fact, the races are somewhat dull. Not this year though. It all started with Sergio Perez, the home hero getting out of the race on Lap 1 after a collision with Charles Leclerc. Almost midway into the race, Kevin Magnussen crashed into the barriers. However, Max Verstappen seemed to only care about his race as he disregarded what happened with the Danish driver. What did Max say?

After what was an eventful first half of the race, Max Verstappen was able to eke out a lead of over 15 seconds as the Ferraris struggled to keep the pace. However, Kevin Magnussen would end up crashing midway through the race. As the Danish driver rode the curb, there seemed to be some issue with the car that forced him into the barriers. The shunt was huge and even triggered the G sensors inside the car forcing the medical car out.

As a result of the huge shunt, the barriers needed some repairs and the car needed to be cleared out hence the race was red-flagged. Max Verstappen however didn’t seem to be too pleased with the decision to red flag the race and seemed to only care about his race and the advantage that he got by putting fresher tires on during the safety car. The Dutchman made an insensitive radio message to his team advising on how the red flag is a joke. He said on the team radio, “That’s a joke. Red flag for what? I saw the car was a bit on fire, but it’s already all cleared.

Nonetheless, the red flag does come as a boon for those and will essentially reset the grid once again. However, with the pace that Max Verstappen has shown in the race so far, it seems difficult for anyone to challenge the Dutchman.

Red Bull throughout the year has shown that they are the best car when it comes to race pace. The Mexican GP isn’t any different as the Dutchman sprinted away before the red flag came out. While the tire strategy was neutralized after the stoppage, Max Verstappen still had the upper hand on the rest of the field.
