Max Verstappen has undoubtedly been the only dominant force in F1 for a couple of years now. While 2022 was a great year for the Dutchman in terms of the records broken by him, it’s nothing when compared to all the records broken by him this year. With a couple of races left in the season, Verstappen is eyeing to increase his tally of records. Let’s look at one such record held by Sebastian Vettel that Verstappen is looking to take away this season.

Earlier in the season, Max Verstappen achieved the feat of winning the most consecutive races in F1 (10) and took the record away from Sebastian Vettel who held the record for a decade with 9 wins. The Dutchman now looks forward to taking the record of the biggest championship-winning margin currently held by Sebastian Vettel. During the 2013 F1 season, Vettel set the record by finishing the championship 155 points ahead of Fernando Alonso in P2.

Max Verstappen is currently on 524 points whereas his teammate, Sergio Perez is in P2 with 258 points. This implies that Verstappen leads the championship by 266 points right now. Checo can decrease the margin by a maximum of 52 points if he wins both races and gets the fastest points while Max DNFs in both races. So, even in the worst-case scenario, Verstappen will win the title by at least 214 points, breaking Sebastian Vettel’s record.

However, considering the form that Verstappen is in, it looks unlikely that he will not be scoring any points in the next couple of races. Also, Lando Norris has proved to be faster than Perez in recent races. Taking everything into consideration, it is very much possible that the current world champion will increase the gap to his Mexican teammate and set a record that’ll be difficult to beat.

Since we’re talking about records, let’s look at some other records broken by Max Verstappen this year.

Records broken by Max Verstappen so far during the 2023 F1 Championship.

As we mentioned earlier, Max Verstappen already broke Sebastian Vettel’s record of most consecutive wins by winning 10 races back to back. The Dutchman has also surpassed his own record of most wins in an F1 season. The record set by him last year was 15 wins and he has already won 17 races so far this season.

Verstappen has also already passed the record of scoring the most points in a single championship season. The previous record was set by him in 2022 of 454 points. He already has 524 points this season. The Red Bull driver also surpassed the likes of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in the tally of wins by an F1 driver. He is also looking to equal Sebastian Vettel’s win tally record as Verstappen is just 1 win away from Vettel’s 53 wins.
