Max Verstappen is the best driver in the world today and this is justified by his track record over the last 3 seasons. His consistency in the car along with his personality that attracts fans has made him an invaluable resource for the team. But what made Max Verstappen such a great driver? We can go ahead to say it’s his family.

The Dutch driver comes from a family that has motorsports in its DNA. Starting from his father, Jos Verstappen, a former F1 driver, to his mother Sophie Kumpen, who is also well-known in the karting circles, it’s safe to say that he has always been around motorsports. But the lesser-known aspect about the 3-time world champion is his siblings. Who are they?

Verstappen comes from a racing family, and although his parents are not together anymore, his family is still strong. First up is Max’s younger sister, Victoria-Jane. Born in 1999, she is 2 years younger than the 3-time champion. Unlike Max, Victoria didn’t succeed in motorsports even though she tried but her brother still has high regard for her driving.

Instead, she’s opted for a more traditional path and is the owner of a clothing brand named ‘Unleash the Lion’. The business is marketed and promoted on her Instagram page and with the Verstappen name, it’s doing quite well for itself. Her social media game is quite strong with over 306k followers and this plays a big role in the success of her brand.

Moreover, Victoria-Jane is a mother to two kids, Luka and Lio, with her partner Tom Heuts. She is often seen at Max’s races along with her father, a tradition that the motor family has had for years. It’s no secret that Victoria is one of her brother’s biggest fans. Max Verstappen made a promise to his sister Victoria that he would buy her a handbag when he scores his first-ever points in Formula 1. He successfully fulfilled this promise in 2015 when he scored his first points in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

But beyond having a younger sister, Max Verstappen has a few more half-siblings from his father’s later marriages.

Max Verstappen’s step-siblings

By now it’s already established that Jos Verstappen and Sophie Kumpen got divorced years ago. After that, the Dutch driver’s father got remarried and had one child with his next wife. And that brings us to Max’s half-sister, Blue Jaye, who was born in 2014, to Jos and his second wife Kelly van der Waal. As of now, Blue Jaye is still quite young, so it’s hard to say whether she’ll pursue a career in motorsports like her older brother. But given her family’s history in the sport, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her behind the wheel of a race car someday.

The 26-year-old driver also has a half-brother, named Jason Jaxx. He was just born in 2019, from his father’s marriage to Sandy Sijtsma. In this marriage, Jos Verstappen has had two kids, and the youngest step-sibling of Max is Mila. The two siblings are still quite young and are just getting settled in school. But knowing the family line they come from, there is a possibility that one of them becomes a Motorsport athlete.

So far there is little known about Max Verstappens’s step-siblings as they are young and still need to get out into the world, but considering the Red Bull driver has already won 3 championships at his age, fans expect nothing less from the children of Jos Verstappen.
