Daniel Ricciardo to AlphaTauri might come as a surprise move to a lot of you. After all, Daniel Ricciardo wanted to drive for a top team and not for a backmarker, right? Last year, Ricciardo suggested that he won’t be on the Grid for 2023 despite there being 2 seats available. But then why is he back? Is it all a part of a bigger plan in place? With the First phase of Daniel Ricciardo’s master plan completed, his insider reveals the devious master plan as Red Bull reportedly broke the promise made to Nyck de Vries.

Nyck De Vries’ sacking and Daniel Ricciardo coming in as his replacement did escalate quite quickly. After the Honey Badger surprised everyone with his pace at the Pirelli tire test, putting him up in place of the struggling Nyck De Vries does make a lot of sense. However, that’s not the whole story. As explained by the host of the Unlapped podcast, it’s all a part of a master plan.

He suggested how Nyck De Vries’ deadline was cut short from Zandvoort to the British GP. According to the Unlapped podcast, explaining the masterplan the host said “I think as soon as Ricciardo became aware of the fact that De Vries was most likely on his way out, I think it coincided perfectly with the fact that he had been preparing for this Silverstone test. I’ve been told by him, by people close to him, he treated that test like an audition really for a bigger role within the team or a race seat.”

Multiple speculations have already been made about how Daniel Ricciardo could make a comeback to a Top Team. Ted Kravitz suggested that this season at AlphaTauri is going to be crucial for his seat next year’s seat. If the Australian is able to pull Red Bull’s sister team out of the last spot in constructors, then it’ll be a great result for Ricciardo to showcase what he can do in s backmarker. Even Erik Van Haren has somewhat similar thoughts

According to Maximaal.nl, Erik van Haren told De Telegraaf, “Over the next six months, Ricciardo will have to show Red Bulls CEO Helmut Marko that he is still a fast driver. In that case, he can be promoted to the top team again. That’s why Ricciardo is already immediately replacing De Vries and there is not even waiting for the summer break.” [Translated via Google]
