However, ahead of the disclosure, Red Bull Racing’s boss, Christian Horner, is a confident man. “No, I mean, I’m absolutely confident in our submission. It’s been through a process. And we believe that we are comfortably within the cap,” revealed the Red Bull boss.

“So the FIA are following their process. We expect hopefully, and potentially this week, to hear not just us, but all of the teams, the outcome of that process,” added Horner.

Horner is confident in the financial report that was submitted in March to the governing body. The confidence might stem from Horner’s knowledge that Red Bull is in fact well under the limit.

This could be absolutely true, as the Red Bull boss even suggested robust enforcement of the budget cap rule.

Horner further revealed that even after their submission in March, there have been new clarifications in the rule. Seeing this is the first year of implementation of the rule, the FIA needs to be strict, suggests Horner.

He said, “These are a brand new set of regulations that are highly complicated, and that apply to companies of different structures, different formulations, and of course, regulations. There’s always different interpretations to those regulations. So in the first year, it will be very interesting to see how that is applied. It’s an enormous topic for the FIA to get their arms around.”
