It has been an almost curious 2020 season for Red Bull star driver Max Verstappen. He has won a race and secured podium finishes, yet he finds himself miles away from Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers’ Championship standings.

Early on during his Toro Rosso and Red Bull days, there was a suggestion that Verstappen was ‘overly aggressive’ in his driving. And owing to his accidents, he lost out on valuable points finishes.

But this season, in particular, all his points’ losses have come due to external factors. Be it the shunt in Mugello or technical failures of the power unit.

The dream of being the youngest ever F1 champion is now all but over for him. But regardless of when it comes, Red Bull have to assure Max in some way that they can eventually deliver.

Max Verstappen needs a competitive car for 2021

There have been hypothetical discussions about the outcome of the title race, had Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen been in similar cars. In a brief interview, he was quoted as saying, “We wait and see what happens. We have little use for all words to the outside world. “If Max has a competitive car next year, they don’t have to worry about anything. That is the goal: to become world champion.” (translated from Google Translate)

From his words, it is clear that Red Bull have to find solutions. Obviously, they also want to reclaim their lost glory, not having won either Championship since the last time in 2013.
