Red Bull’s Marko Tips Ferrari to Achieve Binotto’s Lofty F1 Ambitions for 2021

One team that will look to make major improvements this season will be Scuderia Ferrari. The team finished well below their own expectations in 2020 and would want to get back up and challenge their rivals in midfield.

Recent reports suggest Ferrari are making a few structural changes to their 2021 car’s engine. Seemingly, the new power units would add some extra bit of horsepower, which is indeed a positive sign.

Speaking in an interview, Red Bull motorsport advisor Dr. Helmut Marko stated that he believes the Prancing Horse would challenge for third in the Constructors’ standings. He also thinks the team are now ‘newly motivated’ ahead of the 2021 F1 season.

Ferrari have made significant strides with regards to their engine, says Marko

Marko stated, “As you can hear, they made a significant leap on the engine side. I think they got over the shock of last season when they were 50 hp behind.” (translated via Google Translate)

In an already packed midfield battle, Ferrari’s introduction with their new engine will certainly spark some more competition. Considering the unreliability of the SF1000 last year, the Italian motorsport giants will hope that their SF21 car is more up to speed with the drivers’ requirements.
