Report: Ferrari Set to Incur Huge Setback With New F1 Engine at Russian GP

Last race weekend at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Charles Leclerc had problems with the power unit, which resulted in him having a lackluster race. Hence, Ferrari has brought in an upgrade for the Russian Grand Prix at Sochi, though it won’t be able to get the most out of the car.

However, as the season progresses, the new power unit will increase its output. But, for now, the Scuderia will just be able to achieve half the horsepower the new engine will provide in Sochi.

The Monegasque racing driver had some issues with the power unit in Monza. Hence, in order to avoid that this weekend, the Italian team has sought to bring a new power unit, even though it won’t be able to give the maximum horsepower. However, with time the new engine will be able to extract the most performance.

It is reported that the new power unit will provide an additional 8 horsepower; half of it is capable of. However, as the season carries on, the power unit will be able to reach peak levels of performance.

What does Leclerc have to say about the Ferrari change?

After having a disappointing race in Monza, due to power unit issues. Leclerc is hoping that the changes to his car for the weekend in Sochi can bring out an improvement.

As quoted from Corriere.it, Leclerc said, “On the bench the new power unit has confirmed progress, and every time we have something capable of guaranteeing us a step forward we try to bring it to the track.
