With the great progress shown in the 2021 season, Red Bull has solidified itself as a team to look out for in the 2022 season. Having put up a respectable fight against the reigning champions Mercedes, Red Bull is the team to beat with the genius of Adrian Newey backing them.

With aerodynamics and chassis design being a forte of the legend, the regulations of 2022 will be an easy challenge for Newey. Especially when the initial reaction to the 2022 design was that the car would be slower than the usual designs.

However, Newey has seemed to fix it, and then some. Red Bull’s cars have been known for their performance on the corners, especially compared to Mercedes. According to reports, the team has to renounce its rake design in order to become flatter; more like Mercedes. This will aid the side boxes of the car, which will in turn help with the car’s downforce. Thus, giving Red Bull a faster car compared to its 2021 design.

The 2021 car was a slightly upgraded version of their 2020 machine, the RB16. Thus, while naming the car, it wasn’t new enough to warrant a new name but was an upgraded version of the original. Therefore, 16B succeeded the RB16.

The 16B did give the team one championship in Max Verstappen. So, will 18 be the lucky number for a double championship for Red Bull?
