According to some reports, Johnson has been in talks with a few teams with regards to a drive. However, there is a big question about whether he will return on a full-time basis or in a one-off appearance. This is mostly because he will likely have his hands full with the IndyCar and IMSA series.

What next for NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson?
Quite recently, the seven-time Cup Series champion expressed his desire to compete in the Indianapolis 500. The driver revealed that the situation is looking good for him, though there are still a few details to iron out. Whether this dream will become a reality, it anybody’s guess, but Jimmie Johnson is definitely pushing for it.
Of course, if Johnson manages to snatch a Cup Series seat, there will be the issue of sponsors. Then again, which sponsor would be foolish enough to not back a 7-time Cup Series champion? On a different note, if he does come back to the stock car scene, some will wonder whether he will be in contention for wins. To be perfectly honest, it has been a while since Johnson last visited Victory Lane. In fact, his last win came at the Dover International Speedway in 2017.
