Sebastian Vettel joined the newly branded Aston Martin team at the beginning of the 2021 season. The 4-time world champion has done a sterling job in his debut season with the team. He finished P2 in Baku to bring home the team’s first podium and also finished P2 in Hungary before his disqualification.

But the German driver has recently mentioned that he has still not signed with the team for next season. In 2022, F1 will introduce new regulations and new cars to promote closer racing. This change could prove beneficial for midfield teams like Aston Martin.

Other than the Honey Badger, the most obvious choice would be Nico Hulkenberg. The German driver is the official reserve driver of the team and knows them well, as he previously drove for them in different brand names.

Robert Kubica would be another option for the Silverstone-based team, but it is highly unlikely. Kubica is currently deputizing for Raikkonen at Alfa Romeo but has been out of the sport. He will be a consideration but won’t be at the top of Aston’s wishlist.
