For many, Michael Schumacher is the reason they fell in love with Formula One; and Team Principal of McLaren, Andreas Seidl is no different as he too was lured into the sport by the world champion.

Seidl remembers how Schumacher got him addicted to Formula One

Speaking on a episode of the podcast, In the Fast Lane, being asked if he was a Schumi fan. He replied, “I am definitely a Michael Schumacher kid. 92′ I started really to watch in detail Formula One with Michael.

“Starting to be in Formula One, starting to be so successful, that is when I started to analyze free practice sessions at home, with all the technology that was around at that time.

“Watching timesheets and so that when the desire simply grew that I want to be part of Formula One at one point, I had this dream to be an engineer in Formula One and make my contributions.

“I still remember I always had this dream to be once on the starting grid on Monaco as an engineer. This actually happened for the first time which was a special moment for me,” Seidl concluded.

Andreas got a chance to meet the man, who made him fall in love with the sport

Many of us dream to meet our idols, and Seidl had his wish come true as he got to meet Schumacher. He recalls how the interaction went and started that he was nervous and had to act cool.

He said, “Clearly Michael [Schumacher] He was the reason why I started to follow Formula One. I still remember we sat together for the first time at dinner. I had to play cool, like this was something normal for me, I wasn’t very cool.”

Now, a part of McLaren, he will surely aim to do well and bring great success to his team, just like his idol did with Ferrari. Seidl’s next agenda is to make sure that the team bags maximum points from Silverstone this weekend and get ahead in the team’s standings.
