Romain Grosjean has been on a road to recovery since his fiery crash during the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Frenchman suffered a serious crash during the first lap of the race, wherein his Haas VF-20 hit a car and darted towards the barrier.

The car turned into a fiery pit immediately after the crash. The impact split it into two halves, with the driver’s pod wedged into the barrier. Grosjean was stuck in the fire for about thirty seconds; however, he eventually jumped out of the fire with only minor burns on his hands and ankle. He was airlifted to the military hospital after the crash and has been recovering from his injuries since.

Romain Grosjean credited his life to the halo device that was introduced to Formula 1 in 2018. The device protected his head as the driver’s pod crashed into the barrier.

Ever since the crash, Grosjean has been updating everyone on his health via his social media accounts. His recent post showed his hands recovering from the accident – a miraculous recovery within four weeks of a life-threatening crash.

Kevin Magnussen credits Romain Grosjean as a better qualifier

Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean were teammates at Haas this past season. However, Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin will replace the pair for 2021. Meanwhile, Magnussen credited Grosjean as the better man when it comes to qualifying.

He said, “I think what I experienced with Romain is an incredibly fast driver on one lap, not that he’s not quick in the race, he’s super quick in the race as well, but especially in one lap, he is something special.

“I think having him as a benchmark, especially in qualifying, has really made me a better qualifier. You seriously need to get it right to beat Romain in qualifying. It’s hard to imagine that anyone can be much quicker than him, because on his day, he is phenomenal on one lap,” he concluded.

Romain Grosjean wanted to have a last hurrah at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Unfortunately, due to his crash, he was not fit enough to race that weekend. Hopefully, this is not the last time we see the 34-year-old on the Formula 1 grid.
